April Reflections

April has brought a growing awareness of energy.
What gives to us, what drains us, and what no longer feels sustainable.

In sessions this month, I’ve noticed many people arriving at a point where something internally has shifted. Not always dramatically, but quietly. A realisation that the way they’ve been living, coping, overextending, or carrying things can no longer continue in the same way.

Burnout rarely appears all at once. It tends to build slowly over time. Pushing through exhaustion. Over-giving. Ignoring the body’s signals. Trying to meet expectations that no longer feel aligned.

But sometimes burnout also brings clarity.

I’ve seen many clients begin making decisions that genuinely enhance their lives. Letting go of old paradigms, pressure, people-pleasing, or long-held expectations about who they should be.

These decisions are not always easy. Sometimes they come with grief, uncertainty, or discomfort. But underneath that, there can also be relief. A sense of creating space for something more honest and sustainable.

Sometimes burnout allows you to see the clearing.

To recognise what has been draining you.
What no longer fits.
What your nervous system has been trying to communicate for a long time.

There can be a strong pull to keep pushing forward or quickly “fix” things so life can return to how it was before. But often this is the part where slowing down matters.

Sometimes it helps to step outside for a moment. To let nature soften the noise a little. The ocean, fresh air, sunlight, the feeling of your feet on the ground. Small moments like these can help the body settle and create enough space to hear yourself more clearly again.

Boundaries are not about shutting people out.
Sometimes they are simply about protecting the energy needed to remain present, grounded, and well.

Sometimes finding freedom begins with recognising that the version of life you’ve outgrown is asking to be released.
